quotes Even in a country like the USA where fitness has become an obsession, most people exercising do not seem to think it illogical to drive automobiles to gyms while doing their best to avoid walking. -- Dave Wilson

How to Properly Perform Tricep Pushdowns

  1. Attach either a tricep pushdown bar or rope to the top cable of a cable machine, then set the weight.
  2. Facing the machine in a standing position, grasp the bar or rope with palms facing inward, and press it down until your arms are straight and pointed toward the floor.
  3. Slowly let the weight up by bending your elbows until your arms are at a 90 degree angle, keeping your elbows in place close to your body.
  4. Press the weight back down to the starting position by extending your elbows.
  5. Continue to raise and lower the weight without resting until you have completed the appropriate number of reps. You should be near muscle failure at the end of the set.

Tips and Precautions when doing this exercise:

  1. Always keep your elbow in place, near to your side.
  2. Don't swing your body, use a nice controlled motion.
  3. Leaning slightly forward may give you a bit of additional leverage.
  4. As always, don't hold your breath during the exercise.
