How to Perform Leg Extensions
Follow these steps to properly perform leg extensions :
- Set the weight on the leg extension machine.
- Sit on the leg extionsion machine, hooking your ankles under the bar so that the pad is on the top side of your ankles.
- Slowly extend your legs from the starting 90 degree bent position until they are straight out in front of you.
- After a brief pause slowly lower the weight back to the starting position.
- Continue to raise and lower the weight without resting until you have completed the appropriate number of reps. You should be near muscle failure at the end of the set.
Precautions when doing this exercise:
- If you need a spotter they can spot under the bar or under your ankles.
- Keep the weight in control througout the movement.
- As always, don't hold your breath during the exercise.
