quotes Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, you were bought with a price. Therefore honor God with your body. -- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV

Exercise Basics

It's not hard to justify a claim that we need exercise. God created our bodies to move and to do work. However, modern society has made it so that we do less and less all the time. Exercise serves as a valuable substitute for the activity that our bodies are missing through our sedentary lifestyles.

I like to break the types of exercise into 3 broad categories:

Aerobic

Endurance exercise that works your heart and lungs. More about aerobic exercise.

Weight Lifting (Anaerobic)

Strength and speed exercises that mainly work your muscles. More about lifting weights.

Flexibility

Stretching exercises that work on the ability of your muscles, tendons, and ligaments to move more freely. More about flexibility.

Your body needs all 3 types of exercise in fairly balanced proportions. And your body needs all 3 types of exercise consistently. Follow the section links above or to the right to find out more about each type of exercise.

You can also learn more about how to get enough exercise, and fit these types of exercise into an already busy schedule.
